What you’ll be doing…

Reporting into the Leader, Security Operations, your primary purpose is to support the Group Security Department in delivering best‑practice aviation security across Virgin Australia’s operations. You’ll play a key role in interpreting, applying, and operationalising complex aviation security regulations, ensuring our teams consistently meet stringent compliance standards while supporting a safe and resilient operating environment.

You’ll work collaboratively across multiple departments, helping ensure our security procedures, manuals, and regulatory requirements are always up to date, effective, and aligned to the latest industry and legislative changes.

You will…

• Support the review and implementation of aviation security procedures, ensuring they align with regulatory requirements and operational needs.
• Monitor and assess security reports to identify compliance risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with operational teams, outsourced ports, alliances, and other internal stakeholders to support new routes, partnerships, and security initiatives.
• Assist with the communication and rollout of urgent or high‑priority security procedural updates across Virgin Australia and contracted ground handling agencies.
• Provide technical advice, awareness sessions and general support to frontline and operational teams regarding security protocols.
• Support compliance and assurance activities, including investigations into security incidents and assisting with external audit corrective actions.
• Support Group Security, Border Operations, and Access & ID by delivering administrative, operational, and process‑improvement tasks.

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

• Two or more years of experience in an aviation or security role (Operational, security or risk would be advantageous)
• Demonstrated experience working with Virgin operational manuals or policies
• Experience navigating operational environments where safety, compliance, and accuracy are essential.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and documentation skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Eligibility to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
• (Desirable) Qualifications in Aviation Security, Security Risk Management or Investigations, or familiarity with Sabre and other airline systems.
