The role:

As the Pod Lead, SME, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving growth, performance, and engagement within the Virgin Australia Business Flyer team. Leading a high-performing pod of Sales Executives, you’ll inspire your team to deliver exceptional results through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on leadership.

 

In this position, you will balance people leadership with commercial delivery. You will own your own portfolio of small to medium enterprise clients while guiding your team to achieve sales, retention, and customer satisfaction targets.

 

In addition, you will:

 

  • Strong leadership ability with a proven track record in coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to unlock their potential, enhance performance, and support long-term career growth..
  • Strong ability to build an inclusive, high-performing culture that reflects Virgin Australia’s values and fosters collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, managing the full sales cycle from lead generation to onboarding, retention, and upsell.
  • Strategic commercial mindset, with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable sales and engagement plans.
  • Customer-centric approach, with a track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships that deliver measurable value and loyalty.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of handling escalations, influencing outcomes, and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Operational excellence, including experience managing high-volume workflows, ensuring SLA compliance, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Data-driven decision-making, with the ability to interpret performance metrics and adjust strategies to optimise results.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the confidence to deliver team briefings, training sessions, and performance feedback.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, ensuring all activities align with Virgin Australia’s operational and service standards.

 

 

 

What you need to be successful:

  • Demonstrated experience leading or coaching teams within a corporate outbound call centre environment.
  • Proven success in telesales (5+ years), with a strong track record of achieving and exceeding sales and revenue targets.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members to achieve performance goals.
  • Experience working with Australian SME clients, driving acquisition, retention, and long-term engagement.
  • Strategic and commercially minded, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Highly organised and process-driven, with a focus on delivering efficiency, customer satisfaction, and team performance.
