Manager, Cargo Operations

What you’ll be doing

Embark on an exciting career journey, you will ensure the day to Day Vendor Operations. This includes Quality Control and adherence to operations processes and regulations Vendor and VAC Improvements. To develop, implement and operate best-practice customer service framework, Business Resilience functional lead, Continuous Improvement Ops processes for VAC and Third-Party providers and ensure cargo resources are available to assist in audits and completion of actions and findings.

  • Participate in the SMS and Volume A20: Cargo Operations and Policy Manual by identifying and reporting hazards to the operation.
  • Ensure compliance by the Cargo Terminal Operators (CTOs), ground and freight handlers with all relevant aviation security, Occupational Health and Safety, Dangerous Goods and aircraft handling regulations as set out by individual operators and governing bodies.
  • Ensure that all cargo processes and procedures as set out by governing bodies are met and or exceeded 100% of the time.
  • Engage proactively and efficiently with the Cargo Standards and Training Team to provide operational SME input to the development of processes, SOPs and operational initiatives.
  • Liaise with various airport departments and customer base to ensure all parties have a detailed understanding of relevant initiatives being undertaken within the cargo department.
  • A strong focus on cargo service standards towards our strong customer base on both the RPT and charter networks resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Assist the safety systems and auditing department teams in completing investigations relating to the regions and ports of responsibility of individual CTOC

 

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • Year 12 or higher (Australia) standards in reading and writing
  • Dangerous Goods Acceptance Qualifications (not essential but desirable)
  • The ability to apply for and be granted the ability to hold a valid ASIC/AVSEC pass
  • 3-5 years leadership experience in air cargo or similar operational aviation roles
  • Demonstrated experience with influencing, managing and engaging with third party vendors/stakeholders to deliver required safety and operational outcomes
  • Previous leadership experience in a multi-disciplined environment
  • Understanding of cargo safety and compliance, aircraft weight and balance, an awareness of dangerous goods transported by air
  • A solid understanding of Security processes – both aviation and cargo security requirements
  • The ability to identify areas of improvement and recommend appropriate changes to process and procedures
  • A willingness to travel to various ports around the network
  • Understanding of key IATA documentation such as LARs and DGR
