About Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA)

VARA operates out of Perth Airport and has a fleet of F100 and A320 aircraft that predominantly conduct charter operations throughout regional Western Australia. VARA is on a growth path and has a strong focus on supporting our major clients in the mining industry - the future is exciting!

About the role:

As the Organisational Change Manager – VARA, you will drive the successful and seamless transformation of Virgin Australia’s Regional Airlines (VARA) team in Perth. This role places you at the heart of a complex change program that is crucial to enhancing staff engagement, retention, and productivity. With dual reporting lines, you'll align both operational and transformational objectives while working closely with VARA's leadership team. Your leadership will be instrumental in orchestrating carefully coordinated change activities, delivering impactful communications, and building trust across a diverse range of stakeholders.

In addition, this position will give you the opportunity to travel to Brisbane to attend OCM Strategic Planning days and work with key stakeholders across the business. This is more than just a role—it's a chance to make a lasting impact on the future of Virgin Australia's regional operations.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Assess the change complexity across VARA and respective BU’s to identify areas that require greatest degree of change readiness support
  • Develop tailored change strategies, tactical plans and roadmaps that align with the broader business vision, strategy, structure, processes, and culture.
  • Design and prepare high-impact communication artefacts that include; presentations, communications plans, key messages and can leverage creative mediums to get maximum cut through and engagement
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager, GM Aviation Programs, and other stakeholders to design and implement change interventions, , communications, and leadership alignment workshops
  • Manage organisational change management risks across VARA in a way that aligns with VARA’s Safety/Systems and the Ops Change and Risk Board
  • Provide coaching, advisory support and upskilling to accelerate the adoption of change across VARA
  • Partner with HR/People managers to develop and implement culture and engagement strategies that align with the desired future state.
  • Continue to be an active part of the broader Org Change Community at VA Group, participating in the Community of Practice and capability and maturity uplift programs.

 

You’ll be great in this role if you have:

  • Extensive experience with leading and managing change at a business or programmatic level.
  • Hands on experience in planning and executing complex change programs.
  • Have an ability to assess the change complexity of programs/initiatives and can recommend “right-sized” effort, capability & resourcing requirements to set delivery up for success 
  • Strong leadership capabilities, both in terms of self-leadership, leading others as you interface with senior leaders, stakeholders and teams 
  • Certification in Organisational Change Management such as PROSCI
  • Experienced in using a range of tools and creative media to support engagement, communication and planning 
  • Ability to work creatively in a constrained environment where “best practice” and maturity is still evolving 
  • Strong ability to remain focused on delivering to the plan but remaining flexible and adaptive to change as required
