Revenue Manager

What you’ll be doing: 

Based out of the Virgin Australia HQ in South Brisbane, the Revenue Manager exists within the Commercial Division and will lead our inventory team in delivering business outcomes that keep Virgin Australia at the forefront of innovation and industry trends. You'll drive tactical revenue generation activity across our network, both international and domestic, optimizing O&D revenue through effective inventory strategies. 

Leveraging your leadership skills and commercial expertise, you'll ensure that all team activity is consistent with a whole-of-network approach to maximizing revenue. The key responsibilities of this role are to… 

  • Lead and coach a team of Revenue Optimization Analysts, ensuring company revenue and other team goals are met  

  • Propose and implement strategies and tactics to achieve departmental and company budgetary goals  

  • Conduct regular reviews of flight performance to ensure correct strategies are in place to optimize revenues  

  • Monitor competitors, fares, and other internal and external factors to adjust and drive the right strategies  

  • Ensure the team has a strong focus on events and peak travel periods  

  • Review capacity to ensure the best revenue outcome for the company  

  • Work closely with relevant internal stakeholders (Commercial Performance, Pricing, Sales, Direct Digital & Distribution, Fares Distribution, RM Development, Network and Schedule Planning, etc.) to address challenges in revenue outlooks  

  • Develop and implement team members' performance plans  

  • Foster team culture and role model behaviours and best practice processes 

You’ll be great in this role if you...  

  • Tertiary qualification in economics, a business discipline, or equivalent  

  • Experience in a commercial airline area such as pricing, revenue management, sales, or business insights  

  • Experience managing and leading commercial teams of 2-3 (or equivalent demonstrable experience)  

  • Coaching and training experience  

  • Clear understanding of inventory and pricing principles and how to practically apply these  

  • Computer literacy in Windows programs, especially Excel and PowerPoint  

  • Report writing and presentation skills  

  • Fare structure and rules knowledge 

Desirable but not essential...  

  • Up-to-date knowledge of domestic airline markets, airline partnerships, and competitors  

  • Sabre Revenue Optimiser system experience  

  • Sabre Sonic Inventory system experience  

  • Airline reservation system (GDS) knowledge  

  • Experience in the use of Infare Knowledge fares monitoring
