What you’ll be doing:
As the Tactical Project Lead, you’ll play a key role in supporting the successful rollout of the Pets in Cabin initiative across Virgin Australia’s domestic network. Following the initial launch, you’ll work closely with commercial, technical, and operational teams to plan and deliver tactical milestones that bring this new product to life.
Your focus will be on coordinating cross-functional efforts and ensuring alignment between internal stakeholders and external partners, including airport authorities and other agencies. You’ll help implement agreed operating procedures for frontline teams, such as Guest Contact Centre, Guest Services, Cabin Crew, and Pilots, while driving short to medium-term deliverables across multiple work streams.
Success in this role means delivering outcomes on time, within scope, and on budget—maximising value for our guests and contributing to Virgin Australia’s broader transformation goals.
This is a 12 month secondment opportunity with the potential to extend.
You’ll be great in this role if you:
- Bring 2–5 years of hands-on project experience, confidently managing key aspects of both large and small initiatives
- Have 5+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional projects in fast-paced commercial environments
- Are skilled in building strong relationships and presenting to senior stakeholders with credibility and impact
- Possess excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving, prioritisation, and analytical thinking to navigate challenges and drive outcomes
- Are confident in risk and issue management, with a proactive mindset and structured approach
- Have a solid grasp of project management frameworks and methodologies, and know how to apply them effectively
- Understand risk analysis and benefits management, and can translate these into actionable project strategies
- Have a strong understanding of airline passenger processes and how they connect across operational service delivery
- Hold a formal qualification in project management (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile)
- Have experience managing multiple concurrent projects with overlapping scopes and cross-business unit collaboration (desirable)
- Bring knowledge of airline commercial and IT environments, including experience with Passenger Service Systems (PSS) like Sabre or Amadeus (desirable)
- Are confident in facilitating workshops and discussions across user and management levels (desirable)
- Have data analysis skills, with proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel and Power BI (desirable)
- Understand the systems and processes within airline PSS platforms (desirable)
