What you’ll be doing

The objective of the Specialist Advisor role is to be the conduit between our Safety and Operations teams and our IT department. You will work closely with the Operations and Safety teams to understand their current challenges with our systems and applications, then provide frameworks and processes to have these changes realised by our IT department. You will provide domain expertise to help solve complex issues and consult on ways to enhance our systems and business processes. You will need business analysis and process mapping skills so that existing business processes can be understood in detail and strategies recommended as to how they can be improved.

This role reports into our Business Systems Manager - Airline Operations. We are open to candidates with 2-3 years' experience in a similar role, that has strong willingness to learn. The ideal candidate with have the ability to build strong and productive working relationships, as well as the ability to take ownership of, plan and drive tasks to completion to ensure the right outcome is achieved. 

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Assist Operations and Safety teams in investigating business process or system challenges and identifying opportunities to better embrace industry standards or look at innovative solutions
  • Continuous focus on route cause analysis root cause analysis into complex or recurring issues to identify and drive the implementation of system or process improvements
  • Process mapping and requirements gathering
  • Consulting and strategy development – be a trusted voice recommending strategies to improve existing processes for the benefit of both VA Operational business outcomes and employees
  • Build, maintain and leverage strong relationships within Technology and across the Group to influence adoption and utilisation of systems and tools
  • Build and maintain positive engagement with vendors and technology providers to develop successful working relationships that contribute to the effectiveness of technology support
  • Document business-value driven customer success stories and best practices
  • Troubleshooting complex issues (and raising tickets with IT or the vendor to have issues resolved)
  • Business Analysis, including requirements gathering and process mapping
  • Consulting and future strategy development
  • Funding/business case development
  • Project co-ordination and consulting
  • Relationship building, with internal clients and vendors
  • Adhere to safety standards, operating procedures, policies and regulations

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • Previous experience in a technology role, where you have had to take business requirements and drive system changes
  • Business analysis/requirements development experience
  • Experience in a role with high levels of stakeholder management, across multiple divisions. The ability to influence stakeholders and simplify technical language
  • Experience process mapping and building out documentation to align the operational units with best practice in business
  • Intermediate understand of Information Technology processes and frameworks within a large, corporate organisation
  • Evidence of utilising strong communication skills to drive changes in the business
  • Experience assisting with the development of a division's roadmap
  • Interest in aviation (because this role is working closely with our operations and safety departments)
